Hantavirus in Panama

Choclo virus is the locally circulating hantavirus, first identified during a 1999 cluster in Los Santos. Panama maintains active surveillance through the Gorgas Memorial Institute and reports case-fatality rates lower than other HPS-endemic Andean countries.
